The inaugural MERI Cup – Maritime Enterprises Regatta for Itämeri, co-hosted by Bluetech Finland and NAPA, brought together maritime companies for a day of sailing and sector dialogue, raising over €5 000 for the John Nurminen Foundation in support of the Baltic Sea.
Eight teams competed in J/70 class boats in excellent racing conditions on the 11th of September at Brändö Seglare in Helsinki. All contenders were competitive, with line honours exchanged throughout the day, and NAPA securing the final victory and the inaugural MERI Cup title.
Attendees included representatives from Helsinki Shipyard, Aker Arctic, Meyer Turku, Elomatic, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (Työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö). Beyond the race, the MERI Cup served as a platform for industry dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing the event’s spirit of community and shared purpose.
“Through the MERI Cup, our industry demonstrates its commitment to the sea on which our businesses depend. Next year, we look forward to wider participation and greater fundraising ambition to support John Nurminen Foundation’s important work, as the MERI Cup becomes a regular fixture in the maritime calendar.” — Sam Robin, Director, Energy Saving Solutions, Bluetech Finland
